Artist's Description

Because of engine over heating in the Sierra Nevada rail tunnels the EMD's SD40-2 was redesigned to pull the cooler air from the bottom of the shaft thus leaving the distinctive openings at the rear of the locomotive. This image is three somewhere near Cypress, Texas.

I was born. Since then I have scratched out drawings and daubed paint at a pretty regular pace. Kerry Beverly 1941 - 2019 Kerry Beverly described his painting as animist—with images seizing on the “pervading life and will in nature far outside modern limits.” He spurned formal training in technique and composition. Instead, he interposed his love of classic American cinema and photography to inform his art.
